90 million tonnes of food is wasted annually in the EU - due in part to regulations deeming produce unfit for supermarket shelves based on its COLOR, SHAPE, and SIZE (yes, as ridiculous as it sounds).

Great Earth Day news from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency yesterday - 23 New England colleges and universities have newly joined the EPA's Food Recovery Challenge, a commitment to reduce food waste on college campuses (using the framework pictured).
