We're hand treatment volunteers at a retirement home
that we visit once a month, but still everyone is always
waiting anxiously for us.
It really makes us happy that the people
who don't really talk much talk a lot with us,

Due to the earthquake occurred in last March in Japan, lots of people
have been spending the days with insecure feelings since then.
Regardless of such circumstances, there are many people
who have been volunteering at shelters, and also there are
many childrenwho are eager to help others in some way.
The other day, I went to a high school to join a "hand treatment"
lecture for the disaster victim support. Over there, the children
who joined us confessed their passionate hopes to make use of
this experience for the future and I hope there will be more children
like them, children with pure and warm hearts, in this world.
昨年起こった地震で直接被害を受けた方、また直接被害を
受けなかった人でも不安な毎日を送ってきました。
避難所へボランティアに行って支援活動をしている方も多くいますが
子供達の中でも「何か役に立ちたい」という気持ちを強く持っている
子も多くいます。
先日、被害被災者支援の為の高校生対象の「ハンドトリートメント」の
講義に行ってきました。
講義では、被災地旭市の避難所に伺った時の話や、今までハンドを
行ってきた経験を交えながら、最後に実習も行いました。
子供達は熱心に話を聞いてくれて、積極的に実習にも参加し
「今後ボランティア等に参加し必ず習ったことを活かしていきたい」
と熱い思いを語ってくれました。
このような優しい子供達が日本にも沢山いるということを知り
大変感動いたしました。
将来の日本を支えていく子供達に期待したいですね♪

at a nursing home where I regularly visit.
I have only several minutes per a person for the treatment
but they always thank us.
That makes us so happy.☆
約１０年前から続けているボランティアですが、月に１度の訪問を
皆さん楽しみに私達を待っていてくださいます。
